The El Baton brand dates back to 1914, created by Julius Caeser Newman himself. At the time, the cigars were rolled in the company's Cleveland, Ohio factory using Cuban tobacco and sold for a nickel apiece. The brand was later revived in 2008 with a Nicaraguan-forward blend and medium intensity. In 2022, the cigars were overhauled once more, showcasing a slightly punchier version of the former blend and updated graphics throughout the boxes and bands.
