Foundation's Olmec Maduro cigar is one of two offerings (being joined by the Olmec Claro) from Nick Melillo and his Foundation Cigar Co. that are themed around the ancient Olmec people that lived in the Tuxtla/San Andrés regions from roughly 1500 to 400 BC. This is also the region that produces the beloved San Andrés tobacco that has become one of the most popular choices for wrapper tobacco today, and is used on both the Olmec Claro and Olmec Maduro cigars. As the darker of the two, the Olmec Maduro features a top-grade San Andrès Negro wrapper over a three-year-aged all-Nicaraguan interior from the Jalapa and Estelí regions.
